David’s Salon, a well-known hairstyle authority in the Philippines, has found another home in LOS ANGELES, CA. It opened its doors last July 16, 2008. Its staff and crew who were trained in the Philippines and who are licensed hairstylists in the US are all set to give the Filipino American community the David’s Salon experience.
Exactly what is the David’s Salon experience?
It all starts with the story of a man named David Charlton, who came to the Philippines in 1978 at the age of 21. Before that, by the age of 16, he had already started hairdressing in the UK, armed with years of education in men’s and ladies’ hairdressing.
In Manila, he started managing the Rever Salon in the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel. David initially worked on expanding the Rever Salon, which targeted the A market, but decided to put up a chain of “David’s Salon” instead to reserve the Rever marquee for his moneyed clients.
In 1989, David opened the first David’s Salon in the New Farmer's Plaza in Cubao, Quezon City. Following its success, he opened more local branches. Visualizing the potential of the expanding the market, he ventured into the international scene— in Xiamen, China in 2003, and a branch here in Los Angeles in July 2008.
Now, David's salon group has expanded to 186 salons to date, with several more under construction or in the planning stages.
The David’s Salon experience is the end-result of the salon’s tested expertise and success in the industry. It is reflected in one’s great new look, refreshing new hairstyle, and smile of satisfaction.
Worth noting are the distinctive accolades that David’s Salon has received in recent years, including the National Consumer Awards 2004 for Best Salon and the National Shoppers Awards 2004 for Best Salon, among others. Also, David’s Salon is the only one in the Philippines that holds its own Annual Hair Competition.
